Featured Vehicle of the Month

Charlie Steffy’s 1919 Buick H 45

The featured vehicle is a 1919 Buick H 45.  Charlie’s dad purchased this car from the original owner in 1949. When Charlie’s dad passed away, in 1992, Charlie inherited the car.  Two families in 103 years…not bad!

This car was originally purchased by a father for his son when his son returned home from WW I.  The Keller family owned Keller’s Grocery Store in downtown Elizabethtown, just a few miles from Hershey, PA.  This was the grocery delivery car for the family until 1949 when they decided to get a more modern car.

Charlie’s father had the seats and top replaced in 1958.  The car was repainted in 1976.  Each year Charlie drives the car up to the AACA Fall Meet in Hershey.  This year she won a Repeat Preservation award.

Charlie has met many friends from all over the world because of this car.  The four of us bundled up are Ivan and Graham from New Zealand and Dan from Denmark.  It was a cold trip that year up to Hershey!  The group seated by the car was from 2019 when we had a champagne toast for her 100th birthday.  Annie from Paris, Rolf from Zurich, and Father and Son Johannes and Dimitri from the Netherlands.  Cars are fun but the people and their stories are the Best!
